ive hit a snag,(on xbox)

day 2 into it.. have done very little questing. just become werewolf. and havent even picked between imperial or the other ones. who i want to help. barely gone either side of whiterun.

im level 21- from 14 up to 21 ive mostly been done like 2-3 quests and been leveling black smithing and using enchanting to enchant the levelled weapon sell it back for more materials, i cant find anything but iron mines so far.. im at level 75 blaksmith made 2 glass mace (duel wield) used a blacksmith draught. then upgraded them. and now i have them at legendary. i only on level 52 for onehanded weapons, have 3/5 in onehanded armsman skill (60% more damage). and so im impressed each mace does 48 damage each.

but when i go to enchant them. the enchant removes the weapon damage improvement "legendary" caused by the smithing (using potion /draught and grindstone)

never happened to me before./ and dont have enough malachite to make spares to test why it happens if it was the use of the draught or some damage limitation on the weapon. i dont understand why the enchantment would remove my extra sharpening/grindstoning. any 1 else had this?

clearly would rather have two permenantly level 48 damage weapons than going back to level 27 with a +15 damage enchant. but what id rather more is to have both. *considers downloading the updates
----------------------------------------------------------------------

PS: avash its alot like fall out. your best to pickpocket and steal whilst staionary and crouched. so you are unseen. and arent moving. if you steal when the eye is a flat dot you wont get seen/attacked. you should also decide what you want to level if you want to be an assassin sort of character and sneak around getting criticals (if you hit some one unsen you will critical strike) by firing or stabbing without being detected. You want to level different if you want to be mostly mage, or mostly warrior. You will struggle to combine magic and physical fighting because one uses magika and one uses stamina. id say spend most of your points on one fighting type (two at most if you use 1 handed and shield, or bow and dagger etc) then once you get the hang of it and understand how it works a bit better, you can expand to specialise entirely in one sort of disciplin or multiples.....

If you want to enchant all you need is soul trap spell. to smith all you need is one side of the smithing tree as plate armour is as good as orc armour and the left side is best if you arent a warrior type. or even if you are. you dont need to waste points in the otherside imo.

if you go warrior you need stamina because the plate is heavy and so are weapons, if you go mage you dont wear any armour really, so dont have excess dead weight so stamina isnt important. if you are warrior you use heavy armour if you are assassin you just want light armours. and a few points in the right choice make it easier to stay alive. mages use magic armour and duel casting shields/heals whilst attacking so they dont need any armour.

Try to start off playing through not mixing and matching is my advice. then around level 18 or so you have enough skills in your non fighting skills and a few in one particular fighting skill that you are then able to diversify. and will understand the game better but dont diversify at the start is my advice for any game by berthesda :p

I noticed this as well when enchanting an epic glass sword to add absorb magika to it. Just before hitting craft or enchant or w/e it is, the "epic" tag disappeared and the damage was being shown as the basic damage (22 I think?)

However, I went ahead and crafted it anyway, and afterwards the epic tag came back and the damage was back up to what it should have been (40-something).

So go ahead and give it a try, it should turn out ok. I'm on PC not xbox so can't guarantee it's the same, but if the initial problem appeared on both....

Malachite isn't *that* difficult to get hold of anyway. I've found 2 good mining spots. I'm currently in the process of enchanting a glass armour set to make destruction spells cost 0 mana. Need more souls....

Cool. Do you get an amulet at the end that gives you +30 Stamina, Health and Magicka or do you have to choose one?

Yeah the 3 amulets combine to make one amulet that gives you +30 health, stamina, and magicka. It is a great amulet.

I'm an RPG newbie too, and I think the thing to remember is that you can just ignore stuff. If you try and do every single quest you're presented with you'll be playing non-stop for the next 6 months.

And as far as I can make out, if you want to powerhouse through the main story as fast as possible then you're best off choosing one or two skills to specialise in rather than being an all-rounder. However, I think it's *alot* more fun to give everything a try. Also, don't buy weapons, find them or forge them yourself, more satisfying.

Or you could be this guy xD

Yeah I was doing that, duel wielding. But people were telling me on steam that they had magic in one hand and an axe in the other. And i watched a video and the guy was siwtching between magic, two hand & bow. So wondered if I was missing something. Also, in terms of forging what do you have to do exactly its kind of confusing?

Actually, having gone further into it, I'd say don't do any forging/smithing. It's overpowered and takes alot of the fun out of the game. There's no excitement about fighting your way through a dungeon to steal some high level armour or rare weapon if you know you could just forge it yourself without even needing to leave Whiterun.

Next time I play through I'm going to completely ignore it.

I haven't really done any forging, and given this particular review I'm not likely to do so!

The thing I most enjoy about RPGs are intricate storylines, and the second thing is LOOTING. Deprive me of looting fun and the game is that much less entertaining.

So bring on the looting, raping, and pillaging!

hated the amulet quest.... the boss mob who spawned images bugged and kept spamming spawns even when he died, took me like half an hour of saves to complete it :p

My housemate who has it on 360 is really mad, his quest mob bugs at the Greybeards so he can't continue on from the main storyline from there :p

just did the boethias calling, i got it from reading a book with a picture on the front. and im not sure if during the quest or some point around those areas. unlocked a chest (master/expert) or just somehow got an axe with the enchant something like. battleaxe of oblivion, and it sent back summoned daedra (up to lvl 20)back to oblivion.

long and short being i disenchanted and tested. enchanting an iron dagger with a petty soul gem of this enchant takes the value up from 10gold to around 1,710 gold. instant lisence to print money. i can buy a dagger and a filled soulgem for that much and enchant it and make profit even with gash speaking skills.....

so was woundering does money actually do anything once you have a house and a horse. is there anything else worth buy or is it just ingredients potions etc.

Oops forgot about this thread! Still rockin' my mage. I got enchanting and smithing to level 100 recently. Once you have those levelled up they're so powerful. I made a full set of dragonscale armour, then put some sick enchantments on. Fortify destruction on 4 pieces of armour with grand soul gems makes it 100% mana reduction cost for all destruction spells, plus with the perk to allow me to have 2 enchantments everything I have sick mana regen too :D
I am starting to wonder if I'll regret doing it like this though, being able to endlessly spam the most powerful destruction spells which cost me 0 mana makes everything so easy.

As for the main storyline, I've clocked like 56 hours on the game so far according to steam, and I'm still not that far in to the main storyline. So easy to get distracted :p

I also will echo what DA said, it's kinda fun just walking from place to place rather than using fast travel. There's always new places to discover and random events/encounters will often pop up. I've also given up using my horse, I got sick of using it. The animation of getting on and off the horse gets kinda annoying after a while when you have to get off it every 2 minutes. Plus it has really ****ing annoying AI. Every horse in the game has the spirit of rambo in it or something, there just has to be an enemy in a 3 mile radius and it will gallop off and attack it. Sometimes after an enemy encounter it would take me ages just to find where the damn thing had run off to. There should be a stay command or something. Plus I read somewhere that random quest events don't happen to you when on horseback, only on foot. So there's that too.

Dowloaded it from my Bro's steam account {yeah I'm a cheeky scrounger who can't afford it himself} absolutely loving it, even if I'm having to play on minimal graphics due to my poor laptop being generally incapable of running anything graphic intensive {leads to crashes after playing the game for an hour or 2 due to the CPU overheating even on lowest settings, yay for inbuilt addiction protection :p}
But yeah, Nord in heavy armour with spells and a shield, oh the funs :> block and burn \o/

I've actually taken to fast-travelling *more* recently. I'm only level 31, I assume about 1/2 or 2/3rds of the way through the main story, and already I've pretty much fully explored 2/3rds of the map. I'm deliberately leaving some map blanks for once I've finished the main quests.

It actually doesn't require a good PC to play. I bought this pre-built Lenovo crap for 350$ and it sits somewhere between the minimum and recommended requirements
