Re: Bush integrated IRC / Chat
Blackwolf, actually:
<@Maxi|Beep> Azzer, if you saw the 'bush integrated irc/chat' suggestion, think it's doable?
<@Azzer> Maxi - is this a new/recent suggestion? I've missed a fair number of topics in the past 9 or 10 days, I've been skipping around the forums on an evening
<@Azzer> I just happen to be on my desktop PC today as I was doing some DB work (which I need to do on my desktop), hence going through forums a bit today and being here on IRC
<@Maxi|Beep> Yes Azzer, coulple days ago
<@Azzer> (most of my days I work on my laptop - no MSN or anything on there just code code code)
<@Azzer> Cheers
* Azzer looks.
<@Azzer> If there is a way of integrating something already done (like Twigs mentioned Mibbit), that either isn't hosted by me (just a link with a pre-set config), or doesn't use barely any server resources, then yes
<@Azzer> But... there may be issues if the IP given to NetGamers is that of the server, not the user
<@Azzer> As ovviously netGamers has max connections per IP... so that would need looking in to
<@Azzer> I'm not great with IRC stuff at all, never have been
<@Azzer> I have no idea, I've only heard of Mibbit in passing
<@Azzer> It'll need looking in to properly either by me when i've finished the core of this Age 5 stuff, or anyone else that wants to look in to it with mind to the two problems I mentioned above I'd welcome it
<@Azzer> if my two issues can be solved I'd love to integrate IRC
<@Azzer> A) If it was like Google, where the data was in a form, I could pass the data directly as the link, so it'd be possible/do-able
<@Azzer> Legality wise, it'd depend on Mibbit/the IRC client's own license
<@Azzer> The IP's would have to be that of the user
<@Azzer> If the IP is that of the server, I can't do iot
<@Azzer> *it
<@Azzer> We need to be able to see who a user is
<@Azzer> (so does NetGamers)
<@Azzer> Aye, I think integrating IRC might be best. At the worst, I'm sure there are Firefox add-ons that have IRC built in, maybe I could configure one to be pre-set to connect to Bush and just advertise/host/link to that add-on
I'm currently looking at using for mibbit for another project, and I believe I have a way around the "IP of the user is the mibbit server" problem. Just need to get a certain NetGamers admin interested and allow me to trial it so that all NetGamers Mibbit users can benefit.
