An ode to the elk:
We roamed over Canada, we many an elk,
over hills, over vales, over rock infused whelk,
A large species of deer, or in latin cervus,
need a high protein diet? We're at your service!
We love grasses and plants, fresh leaves and dried bark,
In America and Asia we leave our mark,
In the rut males can command quite the harem,
and can bugle for miles over mountain and stream.
But please, oh please don't confuse us with the moose,
for our precious fine velvet has far more use!
