I am what one could describe as a technological retard. As such, techno babble about certain items which sound handy confuses me.
Now you understand my condition, I present to you the problem:
I'm trying to find a means of cheaply (emphasis on cheap) splitting an ethernet wall socket into two, so I can plug 2 computers into the web at the same time without using a router (yes, there is an important reason why I can't just use a router, but it's not relevant to this issue, just be aware that this is not an option for me). As such I started searching for ethernet splitters. In doing so I found this:
https://secure.cdlmicro.co.uk/html/show_product.php/pid/316
I managed to work out that you need 2 of them to do what I want them to do, but does anyone have the technical knowledge that can explain to me, a simpleton, why this is the case and how I would actually go about using them?
Much abliged
