• Those wishing to contribute to the game by making suggestions (both small and large) should read the following before doing so.

Bushtarion largely runs completely automatically, and has been designed intentionally to be as self-maintaining as possible, with mechanics and balance considered at a completed point.

Please do not spend large amounts of time coming up with complex suggestions in the hope that they will be read and possibly implemented in the future, unless you just enjoy the discussion, theory-craft, and such.

The most likely changes will be rules-changes, specific number-tweaks to units, techs, and similar sorts of changes, and only if a large community consensus is reached as "proof" that a change would, overall, be an improvement, and are more likely to be done in batches, occassionally, not as a regular thing.

Just pointing out that we almost spend every round (if you in aftw ally) being contactable 24/7. What difference does it make if you have to be contactable over xmas? People have social lives/bdays/anniversaries and all sorts of things happen in thier lives. But they don't get breaks for those days... So why should there be a break in the first place..

Because most people celebrate Xmas. A vast minority celebrate birthdays/anniversaries etc on the same day as a majority of the rest of the world. Use your brain for chrissake.

Yer, but my point is people still manage to be contactable on those other days. The amount of people celebrating is irrelevant... Try not to miss the point next time.

The point is - there was always a Christmas break for like what... 10 years now. And suddenly with a 2 or 3 hours of notice it's gone. That just won't do!

Well I would assume that anyone wanting to play FTW would at least be contactable enough to be rushed online to hit sleepmode if they so wanted. For that matter, when almost everyone are busy having a holiday, just who are gonna attack?

Tbh, I never play FTW anymore, so I could care less, break or otherwise, but I agree the notice of there not being a special holiday break should have come earlier, because humans are creatures of habit...

The amount of people celebrating is vital. If everyone was born on July 23rd, we would all probably have a break to celebrate! If 5 people celebrated Xmas, then no one would give a ****. However, The point is that most people celebrate Christmas on one Specific day, so it's fair to give everyone a break on that Specific day since we're all probably trying to do our best to be with family. I've been contactable over Xmas, it doesn't mean I wouldn't prefer to spend time with my family instead of checking my online game. Personal days (birthdays anniversaries etc) are not the same as public holidays, especially one that nigh on everyone celebrates. And if oh don't celebrate Xmas and therefore don't care? Well my sympathies.

I believe the only one missing the point here is you...

If what you are saying is true, then why don't we have a break on new years? If you want the break that's fine, go sleep mode... Removing the free break isn't stopping you from socialising or being with your family. Its what priorities you have...

What he's saying is that you shouldn't have to choose.

In my opinion, it was the lack of notice that pissed me off, as well as the fact that this deprived me of an achievement :(

Because, as Alci said, Christmas is a family holiday. It's one of the few opportunities some people get to be with their family, while New Year's eve is just a day on which people get massively wasted and getting online would be either impossible due to the sky-high blood alcohol levels, or completely appropriate because it's not really interfering with anything that special.

Definitely Davs. But I hate making Hobbe look more foolish than he already does himself. It would hardly do for me to steal the spotlight. ;)

Even if he is right, 2 years is a lot of rounds, which would make it a tradition regardless.

If he is right, then it's actually only 2 rounds out of 38(?), so it's really not a lot. But I'm pretty sure that it's been going for the majority, if not the entire time I've played this game (5+ years?).

2 years is more like 8 rounds. 76 days plus 1 week off is just under 9 rounds. That's enough to qualify as tradition.

I'm quite confident that you're making me look less foolish rather than more foolish with these kind of statements :D
I did not know there was a christmas break every round for the last 2 years. You sure showed me! :(

edit: But yeah, syntactically you got me there. 1 is a row, and 2 is a row. Kudos for that :D
