The fact that so many shoot-em-up COD fans are posting rave reviews in this thread is really uplifting tbh :D

Hurray for open-ended long-term gameplay that lasts longer than a 3 minute monotonous point and click rifling exercise!

Whilst I haven't played it, it does look rather impressive from the gameplay videos I've watched. Favourite side-quests so far guys and gals?

whats the game play like on console? like dragons age/dragons age 2 was fine as you had alot of passive skills, So could manage with only 6 to 8 "spells/moves/specialties" mapped to your controller buttons. and was still quite fine for melee or ranger classes, still was not so great as a mage, due to lack of assigned shortcuts to spells.

but if this is going to be like a WoW (only played as warrior years ago) where you need to change stances, use escapes and fears, several different spells due to cool downs to attack. etc. then I may be swayed to fix my desktop PC to get the full experience.

im sure the actual gameplay, as in enjoyment from playing, is excellent. Berthesda are pretty good with thier RPGs, fallout 3 & 4 and rage, now skyrim. I go as far to say them and Bioware are always in the right ball park with thier rpgs. (im more interested in gameplay then slightly better graphics at the moment, as my pc monitor is a cheap piece of crud, and probably wont look any better on that than my HD TV, even with mods. so is it playable on console?)

Holy crap. RPG's have never been my genre, so I was sceptical about this, but it looked so pretty that I thought I'd give it a try. And it's an absolute delight after nearly every other game that's come out recently. It feels like it was designed by gamers for gamers, not by a business committee for stock holders. Which is a really rare feeling these days.

Now I've just gotta figure out a way to both own the game and remain a functional human being.

For console there's like a "favourite menu" where you can favourite spells or weapons, or potions or whatever. It "works", but it's not great. It's fairly clunky if you're doing a lot of switching, I only switch between my mace/dagger and my kickass bow so it's not a big deal, if i was a mage, it would probably be somewhat irritating.

Tbh alci I'm playingn as a Mage and I haven't found it annoying at all...tbh you'll only ever regularly switch between a set number of spells/shouts so it's no big deal

As others have said if you have a high spec pc anyway get it for PC but it does work really well on console so it's not a big thing...

Also DA, the exact same thing happened to me with a dragon and giant...I was running through the camp tying to avoid the giant when he started towards me only for a dragon to dive out the sky between us and the giant helped me take it out before remembering I was there and turning in me again...such good fun!
I've barely even started the main story and ice played a good 15-20 hours, maybe 3/4 main quests in...there is almost endless things to do around the world as you go between objectives and I agree with DA that you'll find yourself not wanting to fast travel just because there is so much to do and see along the way

Glad to hear about it pinpower!

I've restarted as a female Orc Warrior. So AWESOME. Gigantic axe, awesome kill scenes.

Also I joined the Stormcloaks right off the bat, and have followed that storyline first, and one of the first few missions involves attacking Whiterun. it's epic! Jarl Baalgruff is no longer lord, it's under control of the stormcloaks, and the REVOLUTION HAS BEGUN!

Epic winz.

Just got 100 Enchant. I suggest you all do the same. Awesome. All though it does make it a little easy. But heh I like burning things.

The best I've had so far is me vs 3 dragons, one of them an elder dragon. I died pretty bad :p

NICE

The loading screen description of Skyrim horses should indeed read "What the horses of skyrim lack in speed they make up for in roundhouse kicks to the face".

My horse has killed a dragon. Your horse sucks.

They are weirdly powerful tho :s

On the note of awesome though, just captured Solitude and killed General Tullius. Serves him right for trying to have me executed!

Ah see I chose to join the imperials instead...gonna play my next play through as a stormcloak.

Your horse killed a dragon? My horse lived for about 2 minutes and was killed by a regular bear...

Game is so confusing to me as im an RPG retard :d. I have this quest where I have to get that claw back but also other quests at whiterun. Also I dont know whether I should be buying those mage books as well as swords. Also, I dont understand about all these gangs and stuff you can join :(. Very overwhelming for someone whose never played an RPG before!

I stole something from that Alvor's house (near the beginning) and his wife started attacking me, as well as him and the other guy. Killed them all and thought what if I ****ed the quest line up, so turned it off and started again from last save point. Interested to hear what would have happened if I continued :S.

Still addicted to it, closed it after playing for an hour. Doing some uni work and all I have on my mind is opening it again.

I'm an RPG newbie too, and I think the thing to remember is that you can just ignore stuff. If you try and do every single quest you're presented with you'll be playing non-stop for the next 6 months.

And as far as I can make out, if you want to powerhouse through the main story as fast as possible then you're best off choosing one or two skills to specialise in rather than being an all-rounder. However, I think it's *alot* more fun to give everything a try. Also, don't buy weapons, find them or forge them yourself, more satisfying.
